Writing a break-up letter to your addiction may be an important step in the recovery https://ecosoberhouse.com/ process, but at Banyan Treatment Centers Heartland, we know that one letter alone won’t do it. Patients in need of Heartland drug treatment can access a variety of programs that address addictions to different substances, including alcohol. For many, cutting ties with an addiction is similar to breaking up a long-term relationship.

Not only because I feared the worst for your health, but because you had become the very thing that had driven you to addiction in the first place. Ever since, I stay awake at night, dreading a call telling me you’ve hurt yourself or someone else. Instead, use the conclusion goodbye letter to alcohol of your letter to reaffirm your love, summarize your commitment and explain the importance of treatment. When it appears there is no resolution in sight, an intervention may seem like the only possible opportunity to communicate the real nature of a situation.

How I Denied My Drug Addiction for Years

For a time, it felt like all I needed in the world was you. For much of our time together, I felt happy and free of other desires. My pain seemed to go away, and I didn’t worry about life. I even let my other relationships disintegrate because of how strongly I felt towards you.

You don’t stop even when we are lying broken on the floor, crying and begging for mercy. You don’t stop when we are shaking, physically withdrawing from your chemicals. You don’t stop when we try to take our own lives, because it seemed that suicide was the only solution to this never-ending insanity. If you are struggling to articulate your feelings about the emotional roller coaster that is early recovery, writing those thoughts out may be able to help.

Oh, you may not see much of me anymore, but I am here—and I have all the time in the world to wait for you. Between 1989 and 1998 (almost a decade) The Prairie View A & M football team lost 80 consecutive football games. At no point during that streak did they desire not to win. This was like my battle with addiction. Our facility is open and we’re available to answer questions, provide resources, and be a support for those who are struggling.

Letter to the editor: Menthol ban won’t stop addiction – Washington Times

Letter to the editor: Menthol ban won’t stop addiction.

Posted: Wed, 07 Feb 2024 08:00:00 GMT [source]

As I approach a year of sobriety (a feat I would never have believed possible before I entered the Home of Grace), I need to share a few things. In my Celebrate Recovery step study, we had a section on making amends. I guess this letter is partially an attempt to progress in that task. This isn’t a letter that you are submitting for a grade in school. It is a personal goodbye letter to alcohol and drugs, as well as a physical acknowledgment of the damage they have caused.

What Is an Impact Letter?

And all that I ask from you is long term suffering and lonely despair. We hear so many politicians and advocacy groups calling for more and more action on gun control. When the truth is that addiction claims more than double the amount of victims each day.

I didn’t have the ability to stop doing what I was doing.

Find out what we’re looking for here and send us a pitch at

All of these things weaken me and disgust me and I can’t function in the manner I am accustomed to.

There is a saying that the hardest thing to do in life is to say goodbye. This includes all relationships, including my relationship with you. This started off with plenty of happy moments, like the first time I experienced getting high or drunk. There came a point where I thought I would never have to part with you. I can only imagine the torment of women and children as they were lowered into the water from the Titanic’s deck, straining for a last glimpse of a husband or father left behind. But to have decided not to save themselves when they had the opportunity would have only multiplied the tragedy.

How to Write a Goodbye Letter to Alcohol & Drugs

I can’t be the one to bail you out after something goes wrong. That works out to roughly 208 people per day. Let’s bring addiction out of the shadows. Let’s remove the stigma and see it for what it is. We would not ignore a man (who seemingly had problems) to walk down the street with a loaded gun and not call somebody to check him out. Because the addict, ultimately, doesn’t hurt only themselves.

In a secluded mountain hill luxury resort, our facility offers a therapeutic environment and array of clinical modalities to help individuals and their families.
